Single Photon Special Issue: Call for Abstracts

To capture a snap shot of the single-photon technologies research area a special issue of the Journal of Modern Optics will be published. The Journal of Modern Optics has been supporting this area with special issues since 2003 [1-4, and all the papers within these special issues].

We encourage papers that discuss progress on emerging single-photon source and single-photon detector applications and their requirements with an eye toward future needs of the global community. The intent, along with cataloging existing needs and spurring further advances, is to provide an archival document to form a basic reference for this field for years to come. A workshop was held recently in PTB Braunschweig, Germany – the conference website gives more details on the back ground area and titles of the presentations that were delivered http://www.spw2011.ptb.de/.

We invite authors to submit a 1-2 page abstract of your proposed paper by
Friday 29th July 2011.

A committee will select 15-20 papers that will give a good overview of the state-of-the-art and invite those authors to write full papers which should then be submitted to the Journal of Modern Optics on-line.

Note that this does not mean that the paper will be automatically accepted for publication - normal review processes will be applied.

Please send abstracts for your proposed paper to spw2011@ptb.de.

SPW2011 Conference delegates: you must also submit an abstract for your proposed paper (which can be your original conference abstract) to be considered for a full paper for the special issue.

We look forward to hearing from you.
